We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord!

We are One in The Spirit,
We are One in The Lord.
We are One in The Spirit,
We are One in The Lord.
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored.

Chorus
And they'll know we are Christians by our love,
By our Love,
Yes they'll know we are Christians by our love.

The above lyrics pinned by Peter Scholte in 1966, may be very familiar the song We Are One In The Spirit has been song in worship services across the world and in various languages. However many of those singing are not united in unity or Spirit. So today I encourages us to focus on the following text from Ephesians:

Ephesians 4:1-16

New International Version (NIV)

Unity and Maturity in the Body of Christ

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Paul our apostle writes to the church of Ephesus urging them to be on one accord. Paul has been hearing of many arguments, schisms and splits among the people of God and is sure that if they continued to remain divided they would never survive. For Paul only unity would ensure survival as a people of faith and would enable Christ message to change the world. For me Paul's words still reign true as the Church is still divided over doctrine, social issues and political agendas! I pray that in both our spiritual and personal lives you and I can reach across the aisles of division in order to wholeheartedly peruse unity with those whom we have been at odds with. Today who are you into it with that you need to come to terms with, who do you need to forgive, who do you need to grow together with? Why not start being one today? What better day to reach across the aisle then today, what better moment than now?

Pray for me as I reach out, and know that I'm praying for you. Be well, love P.J.
