Refuse to let others light your short fuse! Angry Much?

Have you ever know someone that seems to live to push your buttons? Do you have anything that just erk's you, do you have any pet peeves that immediately send you swirling off the cliff of anger? Well maybe your not like me but I have a list of things that others do to ignite my short fuse. One is while driving in the car when someone cuts me off  without signaling (road rage), two while watching a movie and people tell the ending or ask questions the entire way through, and three people who gossip endlessly just to name a few. Today I am asking God to deliver me from my short fuse issues and allow me to be more patient, understanding and helpful. I refuse to continuing letting the world/ others light my fuse! If you have somewhat of a short fuse at times I invite you to join in doing the same. For encouragement we turn to James 1:19-27.

James 1:19-27

New Living Translation

Listening and Doing
19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. 21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. 27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Dear God this lenten season and forevermore help your people to be quick to listen to your voice and will but slow to be angered by the world. Enable us to be sowers of your KINGDOM seeds so that you may reap the bountiful harvest of many believers of you. Hear our prayer. Amen.
