All In

Today's text for reflection is taken from:

Mark 12:41 -44
Sitting across from the offering box, he was observing how the crowd tossed money in for the collection. Many of the rich were making large contributions. One poor widow came up and put in two small coins—a measly two cents. Jesus called his disciples over and said, "The truth is that this poor widow gave more to the collection than all the others put together. All the others gave what they'll never miss; she gave extravagantly what she couldn't afford—she gave her all."

I wonder what the world would look like, what the Church would look like, what we as individuals would look like if we lived and loved like the widow in this scripture of focus for today. She truly was all in. Humm- All in, this is a phrase we use often today, we say were ALL IN love, we say were ALL INvested in work, or the stock market, we even say were All INvested into our churches and places of worship. But are we really? A Seminary professor of mine reminded us that if the people of God, the Church was doing it's job then we would not have homelessness, starvation, or many of the social ills we have now. But we are more concerned with giving out of abundance, beautiful buildings, ministries where we don't have to interact with people, and non-challenging prosperity sermons.

However if one day we decide to become more selfless and go ALL IN for God we will transform the world, by showing love, and being in service to, indeed witnessing to all.

Today Go All In, in your walk with Christ. Love Pastor J.

Yea this WORD was true and just what I needed to hear. Sometimes we go "All in" - just to our comfort level where there is no Risk involved... but Jesus gave His ALL - HIS LIFE!!! God does not require our lives in this sense necessarily, but He does use our life's work and testimony to draw people to Him. So, it's a reminder to Allow God to do just that, but also in our families, in a schools and at work - Go "ALL IN"!
